Standby Studios Free studio space for dance artists in Wales On the first Monday of each month, we will post here a list of dates on which studio space in the Man Gwyn is available the following month. These dates will be free to book through our website for independent Wales-based dance artists or artists who work in Wales and will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. Please select the dates you would like to book: Please describe the activity you plan to use the space for: Please note that bookings for Standby Studios must be considered as provisional requests until confirmed by email by a member of Dance House staff, and must meet the eligibility criteria. We aim to reply within in 2 working days of booking and thank you for your patience. Standby Studios – the small print When you book a studio under the Standby scheme, we will come back to you and confirm availability – until you get that email the booking shouldn’t be taken to be confirmed. And in the spirit of partnership we’d ask you follow some guidelines: Standby Studios are exclusively for independent Wales-based dance artists or artists who work in Wales, to support their work and practice. If this isn’t you, then please use the standard studio booking system Standby Studios is intended for dance activity. Please tell us what you’re intending to do with your studio space when you are booking. Because we’re not charging a hire fee, we need to be able to staff the studio space during our normal office hours, so Standby Studios are only available on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. We will have to charge for any additional hours or days when the building isn’t normally staffed. The studios have a sound system which you can use but if you need additional tech support, we will pass that onto you, at the actual cost. Because there’s likely to be significant demand on the space, we want to make sure it’s used when booked, so please ensure you will definitely be able to use the space when you book it. If you book a space, and then don’t use it we will charge £80, and this goes too for cancellations at less than 48 hours’ notice. Because we want to keep you and everyone in the building safe, we will have some Covid and Health and Safety procedures we will ask you to follow, for all of our benefits. Due to our professional dance flooring we only allow socks, bare feet and non marking soles to be worn in the studio. If you intend to rehearse in high heels, tap shoes, black or white soled shoes or otherwise, please chat to us first so that we may advise.
