Let's Dance! 2 March 2025, Dance House, Cardiff We are delighted to be taking part in Let’s Dance day on 2 March 2025 at the Dance House in Cardiff We’ll be hosting a special Dance for Parkinson’s session connecting with hubs from across the country, and a taster for our Young Associates training for ages 13-18. Let’s Dance is a nation-wide movement of dance organisations, charities, health professionals, community groups, celebrities getting together on the 2nd of March 2025. With just one objective – to get more people dancing. Let's Dance aims to: Raise awareness for the benefits of dance, for your mental and physical health Make it easier than ever for people to join in and find a suitable dance activity, whatever their fitness level, age or experience Bring people together across divides to connect through dance Ultimately, we want people to get fit, connect and have fun. With National Dance Company Wales 11am – 1pm: Join us for a FREE Dance for Parkinson’s class, whether you’re a regular to the sessions or want to try it out – this session is open to those living with Parkinson’s and their friends and family. 1.30-3.30pm: FREE and Fun taster session for our Young Associates training for ages 13-18 - a great introduction to contemporary dance training. English National Ballet Dance for Parkinson’s hubs (like us) from across the country will take class at the same time across the nation, before joining together on zoom to dance together. Dance has been proven to develop confidence and strength, whilst temporarily relieving some participants of symptoms in everyday life. Classes are creative and promote feelings of freedom from the physical and social constraints of having Parkinson’s. 11am: Join us for a FREE Dance for Parkinson’s class, whether you’re a regular to the sessions or want to try it out – this session is open to those living with Parkinson’s and their friends and family. 12pm-12.20pm: We’ll join English National Ballet online where their experts will teach a celebratory phrase to dance together 12.20pm-12.30pm: We’ll join with other Dance for Parkinson’s classes across the UK and perform together via zoom. 12.30pm-1pm: Tea, biscuits and a chat As with all Dance for Parkinson’s sessions, participants are welcome to do part or all of the session depending on comfort levels, and all moves can be done seated or standing, and will be adapted to your ability. Day, a nationwide event celebrating the wonderful things dance can do for us. Dancers aged 12- 18 can experience a contemporary dance class and creative session in our gorgeous studios in Cardiff Bay taught by professional dancer Camille Giraudeau. This session is ideal for young dancers wanting to try contemporary, or those interesting in applying for our Young Associates programme next year. Places are free but limited – sign up below. National Dance Company Wales Dance House Wales Millennium Centre Pierhead Street Cardiff Bay CF10 4PH The entrance to the Dance House is located around the back of Wales Millennium Centre, opposite the Welsh Government Offices (Tŷ Hywel ). It is approximately 2-3 minutes’ walk from the front of the Centre. Doors at the Dance House open 20 minutes before the show start time. Due to the intimate nature of the Dance House, latecomers will not be permitted more than 15 minutes after the start of a performance. There are plenty of refreshments available in the Wales Millennium Centre or at numerous places in Cardiff Bay. Please feel free to contact us if you are new to the area and would like to know more! Where we are We are a resident organisation at the Wales Millennium Centre along with Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Touch Trust, Tŷ Cerdd, Literature Wales, Hijinx and Urdd. The Centre is a creative hub where we create both individual works and collaborate and partner on other works. Getting Here You can get to us from car, train, bike or bus. Bus services stop outside the Millennium Centre and there are bicycle racks right by the doors to the Dance House. If you are driving, Cardiff Bay has several car parking facilities. Q-Park Cardiff Bay is opposite Wales Millennium Centre on Pierhead Street and is open 24 hours a day, use CF10 4PH to navigate to the correct address.
