Family Fun Day

Free dance and prop making workshops for ages 7-11 and their grown ups!

Join NDCWales for a free & fun dance class and prop making workshop, before watching an hour long show that combines all the fun of the fair with acrobatics and dance to explore the meaning of life, the origins of film and our attraction to magic.

We’re offering free workshops to audiences to Zoetrope, our brand new show for schools and families.

Those attending on Saturday 27 April can enjoy a prop making workshop followed by a chance to boogie, before watching a brilliant performance.

More about Zoetrope

Zoetrope by National Dance Company Wales will be a magical and imaginative escape for all ages. Inspired by the Victorian fun fair, circus and early animation, expect to see the small cast of uber-talented performers leap and cartwheel across the stage dressed as Chimps, lizards and skeletons and move through clever illusions made by light, sound and costumes.

Legendary chorographer Lea Anderson MBE has been working with the talented dancers from National Dance Company Wales (NDCWales) to create their very first show especially for families, which will premiere in Cardiff this December.

What is a Zoetrope?

A zoetrope is a pre-film animation device that produce the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion.
