Ed Myhill

Dancer

Originally from London, I grew up in Leeds where I began dancing. Later on I went to train at the Hammond School in Chester before going on to study full time at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. I joined National Dance Company Wales as an apprentice in 2015 and have since been a full time dancer with the company. I have toured extensively across the UK and internationally, performing works by Alexander Ekman, Roy Assaf, Caroline Finn, Johan Inger, Fernando Melo and Marcos Morau amongst others. As a choreographer I created my own work for the company ‘Why Are People Clapping!?’ in 2018 as part of the company’s Alternative Routes season. Since then it has been toured around the UK and Europe and been adapted for the outdoors and online performances. Most notably the online adaptation of this work was named among the best dance to see online by The Guardian as part of their Lockdown Culture feature in 2020.

Alongside dance I also compose music and sound scores for dance. I have collaborated with choreographer and film director Mathew Prichard for many years. I have composed for his work at Luzerner Theater as well as many dance films he has directed including ‘Fragmented Youth’ which won best film at Tanzahoi International Festival 2020 in Hamburg. Most recently I collaborated with Matthew Robinson at National Dance Company Wales for his work ‘GO’ which was made for the company’s Young Associate artists to perform with company as part of the programme for ‘4X10’ season in 2023.
