Pietro Mazzotta

Dancer

I was born in Lecce, Italy, and moved to Leeds in 2019 to train at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, where I completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.

During my studies, I worked with choreographer Akram Khan and performed in works by Alessandra Suetin, Thick & Tight, and Mathieu Geffré, as well as with Phoenix Dance Theatre. As part of VERVE, the postgraduate company of NSCD, I toured internationally performing works by Kor’sia and Jamaal Burkmar.

Since graduating, I have worked with companies such as Skånes Dansteater, ResExtensa, and Karma Dance, as well as choreographers Richard Pye and Devika Rao. In 2023, I first worked with National Dance Company Wales as part of an exchange project with Korean National Contemporary Dance Company, performing a piece by Boram Kim in South Korea. I will rejoin NDCW in 2025 for their upcoming tour.

Alongside performing, I am developing my choreographic and teaching practice, exploring new ways to engage with movement and performance.
