Professional Placement Scheme

We are committed to providing opportunities for dancers at all levels who are looking to take their first steps towards working professionally following vocational training.

NDCWales partners with Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) to offer postgraduate placements of up to 9 months with the company. A limited number of placements are offered each year to recent graduates of two/three year dance degree programmes. Working alongside professional dancers at NDCWales, students experience the creation, rehearsal, production and sharing of professional performance projects, including any related community outreach or education work. Students on this competitive programme gain an understanding of the wider skills required of a professional dance artist.

While on placement, students are supported by a tutor from NSCD. On completion of the placement students have the opportunity to conduct a final major research project, informed by their experiences, leading to the awarding of a Masters in Contemporary Dance Performance.
