NDCWales Presents Cynefin/Habitat NDCWales Young Associates 2021 short film Our Young Associates worked for a week during October to create this short dance film based on the poetry of local writer Jaffrin Khan under the mentorship of choreographers Richard Chappell and Kai Tomioka. The week long project is part of NDCWales young Associates ongoing training – which aims to prepare the young dancers for life as professional artists. The week led the Young Associates through the process of creating dance for film from concept to conception, thinking about points of inspration, and how choreography can be moulded to suit audiences – in this case through a camera lens. The dancers were supported by Jaffrin Khan and to create their own verbal responses to the idea of Cynefin – their habitat, the homes in which they feel safe.
